Advanced Systems & Waveform Design

GIRD Systems, Inc. has over two decades of novel custom waveform developments and porting ranging from robust, anti-jam, LPI/LPD to high data rate communications.

In applications where communication is critical, proper system and waveform design are key. This is especially true in the deep jungle as the canopy forms a natural radio frequency barrier blocking all transmissions into and out of the jungle canopy. Fortunately, this scenario is just one of a long list of challenging conditions for which GIRD Systems has been able to create a novel solution. Whether it be dynamic channel conditions or a need for secure communications, rest assured that GIRD Systems expertise can develop or port the ideal waveform for your needs.

Software Defined Radios

Software Defined Radios

Flexible and reconfigurable RF boards that can be used for any embedded or stand-alone communication systems.

Developing ASIC radios can be costly to rework and reconfigure for multiple purposes, however the rise of software defined radios (SDR) that take advantage of the programmable nature of FPGAs has significantly reduced radio development cycles and cost.

GIRD Systems can develop for any existing SDR although we understand that in many instances, SDRs can fall short of required specifications forcing customers to increase costs to purchase over spec’d hardware. To this end, GIRD Systems developed the modular Gird Digital Radio (GDR) to meet the stringent requirements for any customer application without increasing costs for unneeded features.

Algorithm Design & Analysis

Verification through simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing to ensure operation in the most challenging environments.

To reduce development times and ensure expected operation, our algorithms are put through rigorous analysis and simulation to find areas of improvement. Only after multiple iterations and exploring alternative designs, algorithms are put through another gauntlet of simulations in hardware-in-the-loop verification.

High-speed Digital Processing

High-Speed Digital Processing

FPGA hardware-independent designs focused on signal processing and communications.

Our solutions are implemented as turn-key, stand-alone units and/or reusable firmware IP blocks that are licensed to end-equipment manufacturers. GIRD provides documentation, training, and engineering support to make integration as simple as possible. In many instances, our solutions make it feasible to improve existing products without the need for hardware modification, instantly achieving higher performance and greater customer satisfaction. Our implementations enable us to process signals on-channel at RF – up to tens of GHz.
